A long-awaited feature has finally arrived in Google Docs: Copy as Markdown. This simple addition makes it much easier to move content between Google Docs and IWL and other Markdown-based text tools without losing formatting or manually converting text to other formats.

How to use it

To copy text from Google Docs to IWL:

  • Select the content you want.
  • Click Edit > Copy as Markdown.

  • Open IWL and paste — your text and formatting are preserved.

To go from IWL back to Google Docs:

  • Copy the text normally in IWL.
  • In Google Docs, choose Edit > Paste from Markdown.
